Novoglan Treatment Instructions
Using Your Novoglan Treatment Kit Safely and Effectively
Welcome to the Novoglan Treatment Instructions page.
This guide has been developed to help you use your Novoglan Treatment Kit safely, confidently and effectively. It provides additional guidance on balloon inflation, positioning, troubleshooting and common questions patients ask during treatment.
This page is intended to supplement, not replace, the Instructions for Use (IFU) supplied with your Novoglan Treatment Kit. Please read and follow the Instructions for Use before starting treatment.
Typical Novoglan Treatment Timeline
Note that some people may see results sooner, while others may see desired results only after a full 8-week course. Sticking to the treatment plan is essential for a successful Novoglan Phimosis treatment.
| Treatment Period | What You May Experience |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Become familiar with the device, positioning, and comfortable inflation. You may begin to notice a gentle stretching sensation as you establish your daily routine. |
| Weeks 2–3 | Many patients report improved comfort during treatment and gradual softening or increased flexibility of the tight foreskin ring. Consistency is more important than increasing balloon pressure. |
| Weeks 4–6 | You may begin to notice easier foreskin movement and improved retraction. Continue daily treatment even if you notice early improvements. |
| Weeks 6–8 | Many patients achieve meaningful improvements in foreskin flexibility and comfortable retraction by this stage. Continue following the recommended treatment schedule and guidance provided in the Instructions for Use. |
| Beyond 8 Weeks | Some patients, particularly those with long-standing scarring or other underlying conditions, might need a doctor's evaluation, as they might not be the perfect candidate for Novoglan treatment. If you have concerns about your progress, speak with your healthcare professional or contact Novoglan Customer Support. |
Before You Start
Before every treatment session:
- Read and follow the Instructions for Use (IFU) provided with the treatment.
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Prepare the device as instructed.
- Inspect the balloon before use.
- The Novoglan Phimosis Treatment Kit has passed through a rigorous quality control procedure before reaching you. However, if the balloon becomes damaged, sticky, weakened, folded, twisted, or visibly abnormal before or after opening the box, please do not use it and replace it with another Novo-inflator in the box.
- Ensure the balloon is correctly positioned before inflation.
- Do not begin treatment if you have active infection, bleeding, open skin, significant swelling or severe pain without first seeking medical advice.
Step 1 – Place
Gently place the medical-grade balloon under the foreskin.

Step 2 – Inflate
Gradually inflate the device to a level of tolerable stretch.

Step 3 – Wait
Keep the device in the same position for a maximum duration of 30 minutes per treatment session.

How Much Should I Inflate the Balloon?
The Golden Rule
Inflate slowly until you feel a gentle, comfortable stretch, then stop. The correct level of inflation is not determined by the size of the balloon. It is determined by how your foreskin feels.
You should feel:
✅ A gentle, even stretch
✅ Mild tension around the tight foreskin ring
✅ Comfortable pressure
You should not feel:
❌ Pain
❌ Burning
❌ Sharp pulling
❌ Pinching
❌ Numbness
❌ Significant discomfort
Once you feel a gentle, comfortable stretch, stop inflating.
More pressure does not improve treatment. Inflating beyond a comfortable stretch does not produce better results and may increase the risk of discomfort or balloon damage.
Inflation Guide
|
What You Feel |
What It Means |
What You Should Do |
|
Gentle, even stretch |
Correct inflation |
Stop inflating and leave it for a maximum duration of 30 minutes. |
|
Pressure becoming uncomfortable |
Slightly too much inflation |
Deflate slightly until the stretch feels comfortable again. |
|
Pain, burning, pinching or sharp pulling |
Overinflation or incorrect positioning |
Stop treatment, deflate the balloon and check its position before trying again. |
Remember: The goal is gentle, controlled stretching, not maximum balloon size.
During Inflation
Inflate the balloon gradually using small pumps.
After every few pumps:
- Pause briefly.
- Check how the stretch feels.
- Continue only if the stretch remains gentle and comfortable.
Stop inflating as soon as you feel an even stretch around the tight foreskin ring.
There is no benefit in continuing to inflate once you have achieved a comfortable stretch.
If You Don't Feel a Stretch
If you do not feel a gentle stretch after gradual inflation:
- Do not continue pumping more air.
- Deflate the balloon.
- Carefully remove the device.
- Check that the balloon is positioned correctly.
- Ensure it is not folded, twisted or pinching the skin.
- Reposition the balloon according to the Instructions for Use.
- Restart the treatment.
Continuing to inflate in search of a stronger stretch is not recommended and may increase the risk of balloon damage or discomfort.
If the Balloon Feels Uneven, Slips or Folds
If the balloon:
- slips
- twists
- folds
- feels uneven
- pinches the skin
You should:
- Deflate the balloon.
- Remove it carefully.
- Inspect the balloon.
- Check its positioning.
- Reinsert according to the Instructions for Use.
Do not continue treatment unless you can achieve a comfortable, even stretch.
During Your Treatment Session
Treatment should remain comfortable throughout the session.
Stop treatment immediately if you experience:
- Significant pain
- Bleeding
- Tearing
- Increasing swelling
- Numbness
- Skin colour changes
- Significant irritation
Do not sleep with the balloon inflated.
Do not leave the balloon unattended during treatment.
What Should I Do If the Balloon Bursts?
Although uncommon, balloon damage or bursting may occasionally occur.
If such an event happens:
- Stop the treatment session.
- Carefully remove the balloon and any visible balloon material.
- Check the skin for irritation, bleeding, swelling or injury.
- Do not continue treatment if you have pain, bleeding, tearing or significant irritation.
- Contact Novoglan Customer Support if you believe the balloon was faulty.
Seek medical advice if you experience:
- persistent pain
- bleeding
- swelling
- skin injury
- retained balloon material
- difficulty returning the foreskin to its normal position
Important Safety Information
Do Not:
- Overinflate the balloon.
- Inflate until it becomes painful.
- Continue inflating after reaching a comfortable stretch.
- Inflate a balloon that is folded, twisted or incorrectly positioned.
- Use a damaged, leaking or previously burst balloon.
- Reuse a damaged balloon.
- Continue treatment if significant discomfort develops.
- Sleep with the balloon inflated.
Seek urgent medical attention if your foreskin becomes trapped behind the head of the penis and cannot be returned to its normal position (paraphimosis).
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know when I have inflated the balloon enough?
The correct amount of inflation is based on how the stretch feels, not on how large the balloon becomes. Once you feel a gentle, comfortable and even stretch, you have reached the correct inflation level. If you continue inflating after this point, you are unlikely to improve your treatment and may increase the risk of discomfort or balloon damage.
Should I inflate the balloon to its maximum size?
No. The Novoglan balloon is not designed to be inflated to its maximum size during treatment. Instead, inflate only until you achieve a gentle, comfortable stretch. Every patient is different, so the correct amount of inflation will vary depending on your individual anatomy and the tightness of your foreskin.
Why did my balloon burst?
Balloon damage or bursting may occur for several reasons, including:
- Overinflation.
- Incorrect positioning.
- A folded or twisted balloon.
- Pinching of the balloon between tissues may occur.
- Damage that occurred before or during treatment.
To reduce the likelihood of balloon damage:
- Always inspect the balloon before use.
- Position it carefully.
- Inflate slowly.
- Stop once a gentle stretch has been achieved.
I don't feel a stretch. Should I keep inflating?
No. If you are not feeling a stretch after gradual inflation, do not continue adding more air.
Instead:
- Deflate the balloon.
- Remove it carefully.
- Check its position.
- Ensure it is not folded or twisted.
- Reinsert according to the Instructions for Use.
The correct solution is usually repositioning, not more inflation.
The balloon keeps slipping. What should I do?
If the balloon slips during treatment, stop the session and deflate it.
Remove the balloon and check that:
- it is positioned correctly
- it is not twisted
- it is not folded
- it is not pinching the skin
Reposition the balloon before continuing.
If you cannot achieve a stable, comfortable position, discontinue treatment and contact Novoglan Customer Support if you require assistance.
Should treatment ever be painful?
No. You should feel gentle stretching, not pain. Pain, burning, sharp pulling, pinching or numbness indicate that the balloon may be overinflated or incorrectly positioned.
If you experience pain:
- Stop inflating.
- Deflate the balloon.
- Reassess the balloon position before continuing.
If symptoms persist, discontinue treatment and seek medical advice.
Can I reuse a burst or damaged balloon?
No. A balloon that has burst, leaked or appears damaged should never be reused. Always replace it with a new balloon before your next treatment session.
What should I do if I notice bleeding or swelling?
Stop treatment immediately. Do not continue treatment if you develop:
- bleeding
- tearing
- increasing swelling
- significant irritation
- numbness
- skin colour changes
Seek medical advice if symptoms persist or if you are concerned.
What if my foreskin becomes stuck behind the head of the penis?
If your foreskin becomes trapped behind the head of the penis and cannot be gently returned to its normal position, seek urgent medical attention immediately. This may be paraphimosis, which is a medical emergency requiring prompt assessment and treatment.
Can I use the Novoglan Treatment Kit every day?
Use your Novoglan Treatment Kit exactly as described in the Instructions for Use or as advised by your healthcare professional. Following the recommended treatment schedule gives you the best chance of safe, consistent and effective conservative treatment.
